The final game of the regular Cambodian Premier League season will play out today at 3pm at Olympic Stadium. League leaders Phnom Penh Crown face league losers Phouchung Neak in a match devoid of significance. Crown will presumably rest their top players ahead of the Super 4 playoffs semifinal Saturday and allow some youngsters to stretch their legs, while the Navy side will hope to grab a last consolation and take their only win of a woeful season.

Tuesday, 08 September 2009 15:00 DAN RILEY

MILAN, Italy - The seventh Homeless World Cup of football kicked off in Milan on Sunday, with the Cambodian team getting off to a sweet start thanks to a 5-4 victory over Sweden. Cambodia came 43rd in last year's competition in Melbourne, Australia, and hopes are high this year for an improved ranking. The tournament lasts September 6-13 and features 48 nations. Players must be 16 years or older, and must have been homeless for at least one year - in accordance with the national definition of homelessness - and not played in previous Homeless World Cups. Games are four-a-side (one goalkeeper, three outfield players) and consist of two seven-minute halves. Other notable results Sunday include a 14-0 mauling of Japan by Wales, a 6-4 win for Ghana over the hosts Italy, and a 6-3 thriller in favour of England against current homeless world No 1 Russia. Cambodia's team were sent to Italy by charity organisations Happy Football Cambodia Australia and Riverkids.
